O governador Ricardo Coutinho e o ministro da Saúde, Marcelo Castro, participaram, nessa terça-feira (17), da solenidade de abertura do 10º Congresso de HIV/Aids e do 3º Congresso de Hepatites Virais. A solenidade aconteceu no Teatro Pedra do Reino, no Centro de Convenções de João Pessoa. Na ocasião, Ricardo e o ministro destacaram os serviços disponibilizados pela rede pública de saúde e a importância dos congressos internacionais realizados na Paraíba para avanços no tratamento e na promoção da qualidade de vida dos pacientes.

“O SUS e a democracia são conquistas do povo brasileiro e Ž em nome dele que este evento deve se apropriar para perceber que Ž fundamental olhar adiante e construir novos horizontes”, ressaltou o governador.

O ministro Marcelo Castro lembrou que o Brasil tem atŽ 2020 para atingir a meta 90-90-90, proposta que foi assumida por diversos países para acelerar ações que busquem o fim da epidemia de Aids. “Que estes congressos possam trazer contribuições significativas para o cumprimento desta meta e tambŽm para a luta contra as hepatites virais”, enfatizou Castro.

Logo após a abertura solene, o mŽdico canadense Julio Montaner proferiu palestra. Ele mostrou que o fim dos níveis epidêmicos do HIV Ž possível atŽ o ano de 2030, atravŽs da prevenção combinada e do aumento do número de pessoas iniciando, cada vez mais cedo, a terapia antirretroviral.

he Governor Ricardo Coutinho and the Health Minister, Marcelo Castro took part, this Tuesday (17), the opening ceremony of the 10th Congress of HIV/Aids and the third Congress of viral hepatitis. The ceremony happened in the stone Theater realm, at the Convention Center of João Pessoa. At the time, Ricardo and the Minister highlighted the services provided by the public health network and the importance of the international conferences held in Paraíba to advances in treatment and in promoting the quality of life of patients.

“The SUS and democracy are achievements of the Brazilian people and is in his name that this event should take ownership to realise that it is vital to look ahead and build new horizons,” said the Governor.

The Minister Marcelo Castro recalled that the Brazil has until 2020 to achieve the goal 90-90-90, a proposal which was adopted by several countries to speed up actions that seek an end to the Aids epidemic. “These conferences can bring significant contributions to the achievement of this goal and also for the fight against viral hepatitis,” stressed Castro.

Shortly after the solemn opening, the Canadian doctor Julio Montaner delivered a speech. He showed that the end of the epidemic levels of HIV is possible by the year 2030, through combined prevention and an increase in the number of people starting earlier and earlier, the anti-retroviral therapy.
