PODCAST: In Depth with Ian Austin – Dr. Julio Montaner enters Canadian Medical Hall of Fame

Host Ian Austin welcomes Dr. Julio Montaner, Director of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Montaner was recently selected as a new member of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame,
and has been a steadfast defender of the rights of AIDS patients to
receive state-of-the-art therapy to help prevent the spread of this
disease.

He hopes the lessons learned from decades of AIDS research will
convince world leaders to act swiftly in their battle with a developing
global Ebola threat.

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
