Evidence-Based HIV/STI Prevention, Public Policy and Sex Work

Join us on Thursday, March 7, 2013, for a presentation by Dr. Kate Shannon, titled “Evidence-Based HIV/STI Prevention, Public Policy and Sex Work”. The presentation will be taking place in the New Lecture Theatre in the Providence Building at St. Paul’s Hospital (Level 1), from 12-1 p.m. 

Dr. Shannon is Director of the Gender & Sexual Health Initiative at the BC-CfE and an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Faculty in the School of Population and Public Health at University of British Columbia. She leads a large program of NIH and CIHR-funded research on social determinants of sexual health, HIV/AIDS and access to care among marginalized populations, particularly youth, sex workers, and women at-risk and living with HIV.

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
