Research Coordinator

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Research Scientists, the Research Coordinator assists in the project development and coordination of the STOP HIV/AIDS Program Evaluation (SHAPE) study and other projects within the Epidemiology & Population Health program.

While HIV treatment has had clear success in improving HIV-related morbidity and mortality, there is an ongoing need to understand the quality of healthcare, as well as the health priorities and experiences of PLWH in order to adapt and improve our health services. How the changing landscape of HIV care and treatment and intersecting factors such as aging, mental health and substance use, and chronic comorbidities are uniquely impacting PLWH in BC is the primary focus of the SHAPE study.

Education

• Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Global Health, or related fields or equivalent training or experience
• Minimum of two years of experience in a health research setting including coordinating research projects and grant based programs, and supervising data collection activities

• A competitive salary: The salary range for this position is $43,758 – $54,697 per annum, depending on experience.

Your Day to Day:

• Coordinates the planning, implementation, and maintenance of a province-wide project evaluating HIV care, treatment and related services.
• Manages day-to-day project activities, including, but not limited to, study development, REB applications, liaising with community partners, cleaning data, supporting recruitment activities, writing reports, and contributing to knowledge translation and engagement activities (among other activities)
• Contributes to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools, (study newsletters, website, community reports etc.).
• Responsible for coordinating study meetings, whether internally or externally among the community, staff, research teams, and other support staff.
• Supports a team of peer research associates (PRA) and engages in community-based capacity building and development.
• Assists with various administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of research studies and projects.
• Builds meaningful and ongoing relationships with study collaborators and partners, including participating in community sites across BC (may require some infrequent travel)
• Leads and supports various quantitative and qualitative data analyses with the support of the technical and scientific teams.
• Engages and leads knowledge translation activities.
• Supports, develops and evaluates strategies that encourage community participation in activities.
• Performs other duties as required.

The BC-CFE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including Physicians, Nurses, and peers, and researchers, including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts, work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socioeconomic barriers in accessing healthcare.
