João Pessoa sedia congresso sobre prevenção de HIV e Aids nesta terça

Começam nesta terça-feira (17), no Centro de Convenções de João Pessoa, em JacarapŽ, o 10º Congresso Nacional de HIV/Aids e o 3º Congresso Nacional de Hepatites Virais. Os dois eventos, promovidos pelo MinistŽrio da Saúde. A organização do evento espera uma participação de aproximadamente 3 mil pessoas nas discussões e oficinas, que tambŽm envolvem organizações internacionais e a sociedade civil.

Os eventos serão abertos, oficialmente, nesta terça-feira (17), às 16h, no Teatro Pedra do Reino, no Centro de Convenções. Logo após o momento solene, terá a conferência “Por que pensar no fim da epidemia em 2030?”, do mŽdico e pesquisador argentino Julio Montaner.

Radicado no Canáda, Montaner – um dos grandes ícones da luta contemporânea contra a Aids, por ser criador da estratŽgia “Tratamento como Prevenção” (“Treatment as key to Prevention”/TasP) – estabeleceu parâmetros novos e revolucionários para as estratŽgias de enfrentamento ao agravo, com grande repercussão internacional.

João Pessoa hosts Conference on prevention of HIV and Aids on this Tuesday

Begin this Tuesday (17), at the Convention Center of João Pessoa, in JacarapŽ, the 10th National Congress of HIV/Aids and the 3rd National Congress of viral hepatitis. The two events, promoted by the Ministry of health. The event organization expects a participation of about 3 thousand people in discussions and workshops, which also involve international organizations and civil society.

The events will be opened officially on Tuesday (17), at 4:00 pm at the Stone of the Kingdom, at the Convention Center. Shortly after the solemn moment, have the Conference “Why think at the end of the epidemic in 2030?”, the Argentine physician and researcher Julio Montaner.

Living in London, Montaner-one of the great icons of the contemporary struggle against Aids, as the creator of the strategy “treatment as prevention” (“Treatment the key to Prevention”/TasP)-established new parameters and revolutionaries to the coping strategies to further, with international repercussion.

During the Canada Post strike announced September 25, 2025, the following measures will be undertaken to minimize service disruption to BC-CfE clients and providers.

  • The BC-CfE Laboratory has transitioned to private courier for delivery of outgoing reports and documents. Results required urgently can be faxed upon request. (Lab Contact Information: Phone 604-806-8775; FAX 604-806-9463)
  • The BC-CfE Drug Treatment Program (DTP) will fax outgoing forms and documents to the provider’s office. (DTP Contact Information: Phone 604-806-8515; FAX 604-806-9044)
  • St. Paul’s Hospital Ambulatory Pharmacy has transitioned to private courier for delivery of medications. We recommend requesting medication at least 2 weeks in advance in case of delivery delays, particularly to rural/remote parts of BC. (Contact Information: Phone 1-800-547-3622; FAX 604-806-8675)

During the Canada Post strike, we recommend that documents be faxed or couriered to our sites, versus utilization of regular mail service

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
