The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS’ Research & Innovation Centre is a unique and innovative health centre comprised of a multidisciplinary clinical team focused on providing comprehensive care for clients/patients/residents in the Downtown Eastside. The high quality care provided by the clinical team focuses on HIV/AIDS, HCV and other infectious diseases and is supported and enhanced by ongoing research, innovation and wellness promotion.

Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager and under the clinical direction of the Professional Practice Leader, designs, implements, evaluates and documents the appropriate client/patient nutritional care plan in accordance with professional standards.

What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized University. Dietetic internship from an accredited program. Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Restricted Activities A, B, & or C may be required as listed on the posting. (Parenteral duties associated with Restricted Activity B would be coded up to Grade 2 as per the Operating Instructions).

What We Offer

  • Evaluates nutritional status/risk of clients/patients/residents and develops/prescribes, implements, evaluates (initial and ongoing), and documents an appropriate nutritional care plan.
  • Contributes to an inter-disciplinary approach to client/patient/resident care and program related issues by attending team conferences to exchange information related to client/patient/resident care.
  • Instructs and/or counsels clients/patients/residents and family members in nutritional issues such as diet modifications and lifestyle changes.
  • Determines, refers and/or liaises with community based nutritional resources as required to ensure that client/patient/resident care issues are addressed.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities by providing input into the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards, assessment forms, and client/patient/resident materials, program descriptions, audit tools and clinical guidelines for BC-CfE, Nutrition Services and relevant clinical programs.
  • Completes required client/patient/resident documentation, forms and reports and documents workload statistics.
  • Collaborates with departmental and other team members to organize in-service education, to identify the need for and to participate in educational programs by preparing educational materials and making presentations.
  • Provides clinical education and supervision to students and dietetic interns as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of current developments in clinical nutrition by reviewing professional literature, consulting with other professionals and actively participating in Clinical Nutrition department meetings or in-services, and relevant educational programs.
  • Supports clinical research activities by generating questions, assisting in writing proposals, and participating in data collection and interpretation, within departmental resources.
  • Monitors and controls levels of supplies and equipment. Reports equipment malfunctions and arranges for equipment maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
