The Interplay Between Pain and Addiction

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Briefly communicate to a patient the basic neurophysiology of pain and why treatment is biopsychosocial.
  2. Describe the overlap with pain and addiction and how some of the basic treatment strategies are similar.
  3. Identify principles of perioperative pain management in patients on opioid agonist therapy.

Presentations will be followed by a discussion where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive real-time responses from presenters.

Canada Post has provided notification of restarting their operations on December 17, 2024. As Canada Post ramps up and stabilizes their services, the BC-CfE will continue the following measures on an interim basis to minimize service disruption to BC-CfE clients and providers.

  • The BC-CfE Drug Treatment Program (DTP) will fax outgoing forms and documents to the provider’s office. (DTP Contact Information: Phone 604-806-8515; FAX 604-806-9044)
