Professor Shane Darke is a Professor at the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre (University of New South Wales, Australia), where he has worked since 1988. He is a leading world expert drug-related harm and mortality, having published more than 250 articles and 2 books on these topics. He has published widely in the areas opioid overdose, suicide, psychostimulant overdose, psychopathology, trauma, treatment outcome and toxicology. He is also the Australasian & Southeast Asian Regional Editor of Addiction. In this presentation, “Rates, characteristics and circumstances of methamphetamine-related death in Australia: a national 7 year study” he will present new national data on methamphetamine-related death in Australia across a 7 year period, a period of escalating use, both in Australia and worldwide.


This is a free lecture and is open to the public. The lectures are geared towards researchers, clinicians, students and hospital staff.
