Dr. Oghenowede Eyawo
CANOC Post-doctoral Fellow and Researcher, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
Dr. Oghenowede Eyawo, PhD, MPH, MSc is a CANOC Post-doctoral Fellow and Researcher at the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE). His doctoral work examined the changes in the causes of death, life expectancy and risk of myocardial infarction among people living with and without HIV. His primary research interest is in HIV and aging, outcomes and response to antiviral therapy among HIV and hepatitis C virus-infected individuals. He also has a keen interest in methodological aspects of study designs in observational and experimental epidemiology.
At the BC-CfE, he leads a large, population-based study – the Comparative Outcomes And Service Utilization Trends (COAST) cohort study –, which is aimed at investigating the health outcomes and health care services utilization of HIV-positive men and women as compared to a random sample of the general population of British Columbia (BC), Canada. Dr. Eyawo’s post-doctoral work is examining polypharmacy among aging HIV-positive and HIV-negative individuals in BC, including coordinating and designing research methodologies to improve the use of linked health administrative data in research.
