Global Activism for Equitable Access to Hepatitis C Virus Treatment

The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Forefront Lecture Series is pleased to present a lecture by Karyn Kaplan titled “Global Activism for Equitable Access to Hepatitis C Virus Treatment”.

Karyn Kaplan is the Director of International Hepatitis/HIV Policy and Advocacy with the Treatment Action Group (TAG) in New York. In this role, she provides leadership and technical assistance to civil society advocates in low- and middle-income countries who are working to increase access to hepatitis C virus (HCV) prevention, care and treatment.

Before coming to TAG, Karyn worked in Thailand for 20 years, focusing on HIV and human rights. She co-founded the Thai AIDS Treatment Action Group (TTAG),  a community-based organization that advocates for the human rights of people living with or at high risk of HIV/AIDS. She helped Thai civil society organizations secure a ground-breaking Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) grant for Thailand’s first peer-driven harm reduction project. Karyn was a co- recipient of the 2009 John M. Lloyd Foundation HIV/AIDS Leadership Award.

The talk will take place at 12pm in the Hurlburt Auditorium at St. Paul’s Hospital. We apologize for the short notice, however we hope you can join us for this special presentation.
