“Gay men and HIV: Findings from the Vancouver ManCount Survey”

Mark Gilbert, MD, is a physician epidemiologist at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), where he leads the Surveillance team in the Division of STI/HIV Prevention and Control. He is currently a co-principal investigator on the ManCount study, a national survey that measures rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections affecting gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Dr. Gilbert’s research interests include gay men’s sexual health, analyses of administrative data, and online sexual health interventions.

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
