Forefront Lecture by Dr. Hélène Côté

On Wednesday, February 6th, the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Forefront Lecture Series will be presenting their first lecture of 2013 with a lecture by Dr. Hélène Côté titled “Does HIV accelerate cellular aging? Insight from leukocyte telomere length, a marker of aging”.

Dr. Côté is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia and the leader on the CIHR team on HIV co-morbdities in women and children (2013-2018): the CARMA cohort. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry at UBC and was a Research Associate II for six years at the BC-CfE from 1998-2004. Her research concentrates on the mitochondrial and telomere toxicity of drugs, primarily antiretroviral drugs, and focuses on their effects on aging processes particularly in women and children. She was recently the leader on the CIHR team on HIV therapy and Aging spanning from 2007 until 2012.

The talk will take place at 12pm in Hurlburt Auditorium at St. Paul’s Hospital.

  • St. Paul’s Hospital Ambulatory Pharmacy has transitioned to private courier for delivery of medications. (Contact Information: Phone 1-800-547-3622; FAX 604-806-8675)

During this time, we recommend that documents be faxed or couriered to our sites, versus utilization of regular mail service.
