ORGANIZATION:
The Hope to Health Clinic, Research and Innovation Centre (R&I) in Downtown Eastside (DTSE) is a unique and innovative health clinic comprised of a multidisciplinary clinical team focused on providing primary and specialty care for patients/ clients in the Downtown Eastside(DTES). The R&I centre is staffed by an interdisciplinary team (e.g., physicians, nurses, counsellors, peer navigators) and provides “wrap-around” healthcare to clients ensuring they receive the full continuum of care under one roof. Hope to Health Clinic works as part of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.(BC-CfE).

The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare .

JOB: Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/clients according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. Duties include participating in care conferences and in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.
  • Urban Health (JD# 002266)- One-year recent, related experience working in an Urban health setting including experience with addiction, HIV/AIDS or indigenous patient populations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Knowledge and Abilities:
