SALARY: $55,000 to $65,000

ORGANIZATION: The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the context of a client and family-centred model of care and, in accordance with the
Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS(BC- CfE), the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families,
visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Head of IT the Desktop/IT Support position provides BC-CfE staff with a stable and reliable work environment by troubleshooting IT issues. Participate in the review of user needs and coordinate desktop, laptop, and printer installation and configuration. Responsible for installing software, activating licenses and updating them. Ensuring systems are backed up appropriately.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training and Experience

Graduation from a two (2) year computer systems technology diploma program plus one (1) to two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of technology, hardware, networks and operating systems.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Apple and Windows OS.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to problem-solve and develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
