Dr. Surita Parashar

Research Scientist

Surita Parashar is a Research Scientist with the Division of Epidemiology and Population Health program, and an Adjunct Professor with Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research advances strengths-based approaches to understanding and addressing social structural factors that shape health inequities amongst people living with HIV. She is passionate about co-leading research in partnership with individuals and communities marginalized by social-structural inequities. Her academic training includes graduate degrees in Population and Public Health (SFU, Faculty of Health Sciences), and International Development (Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University).

The BC-CfE Laboratory is streamlining reporting processes for certain tests in order to simplify distribution and record-keeping, and to ensure completeness of results. Beginning September 2, 2025, results for the ‘Resistance Analysis of HIV-1 Protease and Reverse Transcriptase’ (Protease-RT) and ‘HIV-1 Integrase Resistance Genotype’ tests will be combined into a single ‘HIV-1 Resistance Genotype Report’.
