Dr. Robert Hogg

Senior Research Scientist

Robert Hogg is a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and a Senior Research Fellow at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. He holds graduate degrees in Anthropology from the University of Victoria (Victoria, BC, Canada) and in Demography from the Australian National University (Canberra, ACT, Australia). Dr. Hogg’s research primarily focuses on the overdose crisis in British Columbia and its effects on individuals living with HIV. His work seeks to comprehensively understand how healthcare utilization and health outcomes following accidental non-fatal overdoses are influenced by sex and gender among people living with and without HIV . This research benefits from the expertise of an interdisciplinary team that provides insights into HIV epidemiology, substance use epidemiology, statistical analysis using large administrative datasets, and community-based participatory research.
