Dr. David Moore

Research Scientist; Epidemiology and Population Health Program

Dr. David Moore is a Research Scientist at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease at UBC. He has been conducting health service and population health research in HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, mental health and substance use since 2004.

 

Dr. Moore conducts research related to HIV risk behaviour, substance use and biomedical and behavioiural interventions among MSM in BC. He is a co-PI of a team of researchers and community partners implementing a study of HIV, STIs and health service access among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver known as Engage (http://www.engage-men.ca/home/). He also conducts research related to clinical outcomes for individuals accessing HIV treatment in BC, known as the SHAPE study (https://bccfe.ca/research/SHAPE).

 

In addition, he supervises the implementation of the STOP-HIV/AIDS Program Evaluation (SHAPE) Study and conducts research related to primary care access among marginalized populations in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (https://bccfe.ca/epidemiology-population-health/here).

 

Dr. Moore also participates in a health promotion research project for chronic disease prevention funded by the Global Alliance for Chronic Disease in Uganda along with partners at the Uganda Virus Research Institute/ Medical Research Council Joint Research Unit on AIDS and the University of California- San Francisco.
