Vancouver Mayor: “InSite is crucial to this city”

It’s been a year since the application went to Health Canada for a second supervised injection site in Vancouver…so what’s happening?

The Conservative Government’s delayed approval of a second supervised injection site in Vancouver has left a lingering question – is the site going to disappear?

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson is just one of many standing up and saying Insite needs to remain open.

“Harm reduction has proven to save lives so we absolutely have to keep this site open. InSite is crucial to this city until we have enough treatment to deal with the bigger problem.”

When asked about the future of InSite in Vancouver, and additional locations, Health Canada officials say they can’t talk about any matters that are still under review.
