Ciudad de Panamá (CBNnoticias) -El Gobierno de Panamá y el Centro para la Excelencia en HIV/SIDA de la Colombia Británica (BC- CfE sigla en inglŽs) con sede en Vancouver, Canadá, firmaron un memorando de entendimiento a travŽs del cual las autoridades sanitarias panameñas buscarán recibir el apoyo necesario para controlar esta enfermedad y reducir el número de personas afectadas por este mal que hoy llega a los 17.000.

El acuerdo fue firmado ayer lunes en Ciudad de Panamá por el ministro de Salud de Panamá, Francisco Javier Terrientes y el director del Centro para la Excelencia en VIH/SIDA de la Colombia Británica, Julio Montaner.

Lo que se pretende es que Panamá reciba todo el apoyo de este centro canadiense donde el doctor Montaner ha desarrollado a lo largo de dos dŽcadas un programa que Žl ha denominado Tratamiento como Prevención ( TasP¨ sigla en inglŽs), y que ha sido adoptado por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas como programa modelo para combatir el HIV/SIDA y que a 2030 esta se convierta en una enfermedad esporádica.

El Žxito logrado por este mŽdico argentino en la ciudad de Vancouver con este programa de salud, donde la población afectada por VIH/SIDA se ha reducido considerablemente y el control a la enfermedad ha sido significativo, hizo que la ONU tomara los principios del TasP¨ y lanzara los objetivos del tratamiento UNAIDS 90-90-90, con el propósito de reducir esta pandemia global en los próximos 15 años.

De esta manera, Panamá está tomando el liderazgo en la región centroamericana con el anuncio de la implementación de tratamientos de UNAIDS 90-90-90, con el fin de frenar este mal, despuŽs de un año de haber adoptado la estrategia del Tratamiento como Prevención para el VIH del Centro para la Excelencia del VIH/SIDA.

“Los objetivos del tratamiento 90-90-90 tienen el potencial de cambiar el mundo para siempre a travŽs de la prevención de infecciones, salvando vidas y, a largo plazo, el ahorro de dinero”, dijo el doctor Julio Montaner. “Esta colaboración nos permitirá desarrollar y promover mutuamente las prioridades de salud que afectan a Panamá, la Colombia Británica, y la comunidad mundial en relación con el VIH/SIDA”.

Panama adopts programme to fight against HIV/AIDS in Vancouver, Canada

City of Panama (CBNnoticias) – the Government of Panama and the Centre for excellence in HIV/AIDS of the British Colombia (BC – CfE acronym in English) with headquarters in Vancouver, Canada, signed a memorandum of understanding whereby Panamanian sanitary authorities will seek to receive the necessary support to control this disease and reduce the number of people affected by this disease that today reach the 17,000.

The agreement was signed Monday in Panama City Panama’s Health Minister Francisco Javier Terrientes and the director of the Centre for excellence in HIV/AIDS from British Colombia, Julio Montaner.

What is intended is that Panama will receive full support of this Canadian Centre where Dr. Montaner has developed a program that he has named two decades treatment as prevention (TasP ¨ acronym in English), and has been adopted by the United Nations as a model program for combating HIV/AIDS and that 2030 is to become a sporadic disease.

The success achieved by this Argentine doctor in the city of Vancouver with this program of health, where the population affected by HIV/AIDS has been reduced considerably and to disease control has been significant, made that the UN take the TasP ¨ principles and launched the objectives of UNAIDS 90-90 treatment – 90, with the aim of reducing this pandemic global in the next 15 years.

In this way, Panama is taking leadership in the Central American region with the announcement of the implementation of UNAIDS 90-90 treatments – 90, in order to stop this evil, after a year of having adopted the strategy of treatment as prevention for HIV of the Center for excellence of the HIV/AIDS.

“The objectives of the 90-90 treatment – 90 have the potential to change the world forever through the prevention of infection, saving lives and, in the long term, saving money”, said Dr. Julio Montaner. “This collaboration will allow us to develop and promote each other health priorities that affect Panama, British Colombia, and the world community in relation to HIV/AIDS”.
