Applications open: MSFHR Reach Awards

Applications are now open for MSFHR’s Reach Awards, a new award program that will provide funding to support the dissemination and uptake of research evidence.

The Reach Awards will help teams of health researchers and research users collaboratively plan and implement dissemination activities, adapting messages and mode of delivery in order to reach audiences who can directly use the information. In turn, improving further research, practice and policy-making in areas that align with BC’s health system priorities.

Each award will provide funding of up to $10,000 to support the development and implementation of a knowledge dissemination activity for a maximum of 12 months.

In this inaugural year, we are pleased to announce that the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS plans to fund an HIV/AIDS-specific Reach Award.

“At the BC-CfE, we understand the importance of translating scientific evidence to reach policymakers, patients and the general public. Improving patients’ knowledge of advancements in health and longevity through early and consistent HIV treatment can help reduce stigma and engage individuals in sustained care. The Treatment as Prevention¨ approach, pioneered at the BC-CfE and implemented in BC with support of the provincial government, has led to significant declines in the transmission of HIV-helping to curb a modern-day epidemic.

We are excited to partner with MSFHR on an HIV/AIDS-specific Reach Award, as another means of continually improving the health of British Columbians with HIV.”
