The B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is dedicated to improving the health of British Columbians with HIV through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases. The Centre is a key provincial resource, serving all health authorities, regions and citizens of B.C. The Centre provides care and treatment to people living with HIV in B.C., educates doctors and healthcare professionals throughout the province, and promotes evidence-based social policy that helps protect people from acquiring the virus.

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director provides leadership for a the clinical operational teams and areas of the organization including the Hope to Health Research and Innovation Complex primary care clinic, supervised consumpion site, safer drug supply program and liaises with the on-site Pharmacy and Laboratory leadership.  The Director is responsible for insuring effective coordination and collaboration among these clinical teams and services, working with the Senior Director in setting the strategic and operational direction of department and leading in a fast paced, dynamic environment. The Director leads teams of professional, technical and administrative staff ensuring cohesive and consistent support, monitoring the effectiveness of the department’s day-to-day operations.  

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who has worked in a research, health, or government environment, managed an operations focused portfolio and leveraged it to support an organization achieve its’ strategic goals and objectives.  They are known as a credible leader who operates with integrity, and as an effective leader who supports team members’ growth and development.  Outstanding relationship skills have been key to the Director’s success.

The requirements for the position include a Masters’ degree in Health Administration, Business or a related field supplemented by eight (8) to ten (10) years’ recent related experience in a progressively more senior management/leadership role.
