Epidemiology and Population Health

STATUS:  This is a 1-year, temporary full-time position

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

LOCATION: Interior Health Region

ORGANIZATION:

The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Project Coordinator works closely with Project Leads to plan and implement quality improvement initiatives and projects and ensures effective methodologies are used in all aspects of project coordination. Functions overseen by this position include the planning, development and implementation of Structured Learning Collaboratives and other related activities at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes detailed project plans and objectives outlining timelines and deliverables using project management methods to ensure successful implementation of project deliverables
  • Coordinates and facilitates project events, activities and meetings; develops and circulates minutes and meeting materials
  • Tracks, monitors and reports on project progress using electronic reporting tools and reports on major barriers encountered
  • Prepares, edits and distributes regular project status reports and related documents to inform leadership and funders of progress
  • Assists in the preparation of abstracts, posters and PowerPoint presentations using project reports and data to support knowledge translation and dissemination
  • Works collaboratively with all project stakeholders and contributors through effective communication to sustain Quality Improvement activities at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
  • Performs other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in health sciences, public health, health administration or a related field supplemented by a minimum of two years of related professional experience in health care administration, preferably organizing and coordinating Quality Improvement projects and/or grant-based programs;

  • Knowledge and experience in applying project management methods
  • Experience in preparing publications, documents, reports (qualitative and quantitative) and communication materials for mass distribution
  • Knowledge and experience in applying Quality Improvement methodologies (PDSA, LEAN, SIGMA, etc.)
  • Familiarity or experience with Interior Health  programs and services is an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of health care policy and administration including trends in health care planning, policy, management and program evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work
  • Strong logistical and administrative skills 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over email, and by telephone; and to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and flexibility in various situations
  • Strong problem solving, conflict management and team building skills
  • Ability to analyze programs and initiatives and make improvement recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a group situation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized setting utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, web technology and data processing
  • Ability to collate data and develop graphs
  • Facilitation skills, experience facilitating group discussions is an asset
